Forest for the Trees: Creating Work from Environmental Studies – Mark Adams

Julia Zanes

October 4-5, 2008
Two-day workshop, limited to 10 participants
Tuition: $250
Application Form

This workshop aims to sharpen participants’ powers of observation and help them to record their experiences of places with simple sketching and writing techniques. Specific topics that will be covered include ink contour and blind contour drawing, conveying form and space with line, expressive line drawing with brush and ink, quick value studies with black, white and gray, and using field guides to learn taxonomy. The class will spend as much time outdoors as the weather allows - drawing and writing - so participants should come prepared to explore. The workshop is geared for the experienced or the beginning observer, artist, writer, photographer, or traveler with a willingness to try anything.
