great river arts institute - press releaseGREAT RIVER ARTS INSTITUTE June 1, 2007 GRAI OFFERS TWO–WEEK SUMMER ART CAMP Bellows Falls, Vt – The Great River Arts Institute will be hosting its fourth annual summer camp in the arts from July 16 th – 20 st and July 23 th to 27 th from 9 a.m. to noon at the North Walpole Elementary School and Fall Mountain Regional High School. The camp offers art opportunities for students entering grades 1 through 12. The cost is $65 per week and includes all materials except for a $10 fee for the photography and pinhole camera classes. Class size is limited to ten. Week I: Students in grades 1 - 3: 3-D Studio and Puppetry Students in grades 3 - 5: Collage Books, Jewelry Making and Nature Journaling Students in grades 6 - 8: Introduction to Drawing Week II: Students in grades 1 - 3: Floor Cloth Painting and Art “Adventure” Students in grades 3 - 5: Clay Studio and Marionettes Students in grades 6 - 8: Jewelry Making and Advanced Drawing Students in grades 9 – 12: Pinhole Cameras Two Week Session: Students in grades 6 - 8: Creating Comics , Photography and Pottery Students in grades 9 – 12: Installation Art The GRAI art camp faculty offers a wide range of experience teaching children. To quote one faculty member, “Teaching art to children brings such delight. I love the excitement and rhythm in the space. Children create with such spontaneity that the art they make is as pure as they are.” Faculty include Julia Zanes, Colleen Grout, Barbara Davis, Joe Beers, Jeanette Staley and Billie Lambdin, among others. The program is funded in part by the New Hampshire Council on the Arts and the Trust Family Foundation. The Great River Arts Institute is a non-profit, New-England-based arts center dedicated to supporting and nurturing the visual and literary arts and providing regional youth programs.
